My Best Friend and First Bride

So my best friend of 14 years, Alexis, used to think I was the most annoying person on the face of the planet. True story. We met in 7th grade English class and sat on opposite sides of the classroom. Now, if you know me, you know I'm very vocal and passionate about things I love (and don't love), and sometimes that aforementioned passion expresses itself by me becoming loud. Hence, I annoyed the hell out of her.

Well, we had another class in 8th grade and sat right next to each other. I'm sure on that first day she was none too happy, but as the year progressed, she got to see how truly awesome I am, and here we are 14 years later. Note: she's pretty damn awesome herself. This last decade and half has seen some pretty big ups, and really low lows, for the both of us, and she's always been the person I turn to for advice, a shoulder to cry on, or a tears-rolling-down-your-face kind of laugh. She stood by my side on my wedding day, just like she has throughout our crazy, one-of-a-kind friendship. It goes without saying, but I love this girl to the moon and back.

Well, she met an amazing guy with an equally amazing beard and they're getting married next fall. Needless to say I'm over the moon for not only their wedding day and how wonderful it's going to be, but the beautiful marriage these two are going to have. They're so insanely head-over-heels in love with each other and it makes me so happy to take part in their first day as husband and wife not only as a wedding professional, but as a best friend. And the best part? I get to stand by her side just like she stood by mine.

Congrats, BBF - you're going to make a beautiful bride and a wonderful wife.

New Year. New Business. New Me.

I'm going to be honest here: I've been scared. Scared of trying new things. Scared of the unknown. But mostly, I've been scared, no, terrified, of failure. I've never been one to doubt myself, but you know that little voice inside that whispers "you can't do this"? Well, my little voice had grown from a whisper to a deafening yell this past year and somehow it crept in to 2015...

Long story short: I KILLED that voice. Cut off its air supply. And let me clarify: by "I" I mean "we" - I've had some amazing encouragement from friends and family in the past few weeks. Telling me that I can, in fact, do this and that,  yes, I have something to offer the creative world. Sometimes, you just need to be reminded what you're capable of, and that God gifts all of us something beautiful to give the world.

So, my new year begins February. I've redesigned to cut out the clutter. It's clean and simple - everything that this little business aspires to be. Let me know what you think!

Also new to the business is the addition of Ever Thine Writes, my little hand-letterin' somethin' somethin' on the side. Friends + family have asked me to address wedding invitations and create one-of-a-kind hand-lettered things, and the response was pretty damn good. After some of the aforementioned encouragement, I'm diving in head first. I'll be taking some classes in the coming months with the hopes that I'll get better. Keep an eye on Etsy to see if I do improve!

Here's a little something that's currently in the shop - it's a quote that hit home for me in the recent days:

Things are getting real here at Ever Thine - can't wait to see what 2015 brings!
